Objective

To create a streamlined and user-friendly experience for signing up and purchasing electricity units in just a few steps. Oneclick’s mission is to continuously innovate and simplify the lives of its customers, and this app marks the first step in that journey.

Project Timeline

The project took about a month to complete. I collaborated closely with the development team to ensure the final product met our design goals. The app has been deployed, resulting in a significant increase in downloads compared to the previous version.

Design Process

Defining the Problem

- What am I designing? An experience that allows Oneclick users to conveniently purchase electricity units.
- Who is this for? Both new and existing Oneclick users.
- When and where will this be used? After users sign up for a Oneclick account, the app can be used anywhere.
- Why is this important? Simplifying the stressful and complex process of purchasing electricity units, which is often done physically.

Research and Interviews

- Sent out a survey to collect behavioral data and preferences, receiving 14 responses from current users.
- Conducted oral interviews with potential users who had never used Oneclick, discovering their reservations and preferences.
- Interviewed three individuals (a business owner, an older man, and a student) to understand different perspectives on electricity bill payments.

Framing the Solution

- Explored user interactions to ensure an easy-to-navigate and aesthetically pleasing experience.
- Addressed issues such as typography, messaging clarity, and signifiers to refine the user experience.

Developing the Solution

Created an intuitive flow for purchasing electricity units:
a. Register New Account: Quick registration with mobile number, email, and name.
b. Buy Electricity Units: Simple entry of purchase details upon login.
c. Pay: Secure online payment with debit/credit card.
d. Receive Your Token: Token sent via SMS and email upon payment verification.

Finalizing the Solution

- Ensured the solution was effective, simple, and elegant, meeting all design and user experience goals.

Reflection

- Despite increased downloads and usage, user testing was overlooked.
- Future plans include incorporating user testing to identify potential issues, particularly for users unfamiliar with technology.


Outcome

The redesigned app has greatly improved user experience and engagement, with notable increases in downloads and positive feedback from users. Future iterations will focus on further enhancing usability through comprehensive user testing
